Make the form of cite link customizable via message
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Author: ui2t5v002

Description:
I read somewhere that the only reason the citation numbers have brackets around them is to make a larger click target. I think it looks much better to have superscripted numbers without brackets, like any normal publication. If you need a bigger click target for the number, use CSS to increase the size of the clickable whitespace around it.

Fully customizable solution such as using MediaWiki:Citelinkformat or so would be better, since different norms for different languages could have different forms of writing of reference numbers.

Changed topic to reflect on this.
