mpt raid controller not detected as fact on maps-test2*
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

While rolling out smart checks in T86552 I noticed smartd couldn't scan for any disk on maps-test2, turns out these hosts have an old mpt controller:

04:00.0 Serial Attached SCSI controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS2008 PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS-2 [Falcon] (rev 03)

We're not detecting it via facter, though these hosts are very old and I'm not sure it is worth it anyways. According to https://hwraid.le-vert.net/wiki/LSIFusionMPTSAS2 the way to get smart data out is to go through the sg interface:

root@maps-test2004:~# smartctl -a /dev/sg1

I'm filing the task for reference but these hosts are going for decom soon.

lvs100[1-6] are also affected by this, and similarly are due to be decom'd soon too.

The old hosts have been eventually decom'd!
