Close Icon for new messages notification (gadget on en.wp) is missing

Description

The close icon for the "You have new messages (view changes)" notification is missing.

Using the devtools, I pulled the image URL, which points here. However, I get a 404 response and this message:
File not found: /v1/AUTH_mw/wikipedia-meta-local-public/a/ab/Medium_close_button.png

Issue was observed on enwiki using Firefox and Edge.

That bar on the left is not displayed by the Notifications extension but by a local custom gadget called "Display a floating alert for new talk page messages". Its code is located at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Gadget-topalert.js and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Gadget-topalert.css
