Request for temporary lift of account creation cap for Wikipedia edit-a-thon event (Feb 9)
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Hi there. I work at Ingenium -- Canada's Museums of Science and Innovation. We are holding a wikipedia editathon meetup this coming Saturday, February 9, I am submitting this request because there may be significant activity (including Wikipedia account creation) coming from our IP addresses.

The IP addresses we will be using are: 173.195.49.134 and 173.195.49.163.

Our event is taking place from 10am to 5pm (Eastern Time) on Saturday, February 9.

We expect about 50 people to attend, including organizers, experienced editors, and participants.

We will be working on articles in Wikipedia specifically.

The theme of the edit-a-thon is women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). There will be a range of articles on this theme that will be edited.

Our event page is here: https://outreachdashboard.wmflabs.org/courses/Canada_Science_and_Technology_Museum_Ingenium/Women_in_STEM_Wikipedia_Edit-a-thon

Thank you! :-)
BRIAN.

Hi @Fingal, unfortunately, it was not possible to make this done. Sorry.

No worries. Thanks for looking into it. We were able to have one of our Wikipedia Editors obtain account creation privileges, so that worked out in the end.

Cheers! :)
