Way to automatically add headers to pages in the Reconstruction namespace on English Wiktionary
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

On English Wiktionary, we would like a way to automatically display a message at the top of pages in the Reconstruction namespace. At the moment, we have to manually add the template {{reconstruction}} at the top of every page. See for example Reconstruction:Proto-Indo-European/dn̥ǵʰwéh₂s. It looks like the PageNotice extension will be able to do this if it is deployed.

This has been discussed at Wiktionary:Grease pit/2018/September#{{reconstruction}}, Wiktionary:Beer parlour/2017/September#Proposal: install mw:Extension:PageNotice, and at Wiktionary:Grease pit/2017/June#Citations at citations where several people expressed support or interest in looking into it.

Event Timeline

@Erutuon: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:PageNotice says that "The PageNotice extension provides a way to create a fixed notice messages on the top or the bottom of [...] entire namespaces".

So the functionality requested in this task already exists in the code of the MediaWiki-extensions-PageNotice extension.
Hence I am closing this task as invalid.

Note that "English Wiktionary" or "Reconstruction" namespace are both server-specific configuration aspects for Wikimedia servers (Wikimedia-Site-requests). That is unrelated to the code in the MediaWiki-extensions-PageNotice extension itself, which is what this task is filed under.
