NOINDEX shouldn't be added to the category page because that causes a loop at the cattree (itself is shown a subcat) and having an indexed site containing noindexed sites isn't a great idea.
To solve the problem the category must be noindex by default, so that there is not need to add NOINDEX , or prevent itself being added to the category.
