Add Magic Word to define new section insertion point
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Author: william.johnson

Description:
When using the + tab on a discussion page, the new section is always added at the end of the article. To allow adding (inserting) a section at a pre-defined place in an article, please add a magic word, such as "ADDNEWSECTIONBELOW" which will define the point BELOW WHICH the section will be inserted. This will result in sections being ordered newest at top to oldest at bottom. Also consider supporting "ADDNEWSECTIONABOVE" which will result in sections being inserted in order from oldest to newest (normal MediaWiki order).

Hmmm... can you give some actual usage examples?

The main thing I'd think of would be for adding a new section above any Category or interlanguage links at the bottom of the page. This could in theory be handled by making the system smarter, so it skips those out for the final-section replacement.

On the other hand if folks also want some closing templates or something, then it would probably be necessary to indicate that you want to stop at that point.
