Description:
Currently timedtext doesn't support unicode characters such as Arabic. When playing captions in a video such as http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Elephants_Dream.ogg cryptic characters are displayed.

It "works for me" using the current version of the gadget with Firefox on Ubuntu 9.10. Are you still experiencing gibberish ? What platform are you using?
