Description

Steps to Reproduce:

Edit page source both using the new and the old editor and enter something like e.g. /usr/share/wine/wine.inf or wine/wine.
Now watch the preview and you will see something like /usr/share/wine.inf or wine. If you publish your changes the correct string will be saved and shown.

Actual Results:

wine/wine becomes wine and /usr/bin/wine/wine.inf becomes /usr/share/wine.inf in page preview when editing source

Expected Results:

wine/wine and /usr/bin/wine/wine.inf are shown as this in page preview when editing source

Can this be seen on some public website (link) somewhere? Which editor software is being used (what's "new" or "old")?

Hi @Aklapper,

i encountered the bug on https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wine when editing a section but i could also replicate this on wikipedia.org, test2.wikipedia.org and my own wiki running mediawiki 1.31.7.

Sorry the "new" and "old" part is a bit misleading. With old editor i mean the MediaWiki editor aswell as WikiEditor and with new editor i mean the VisualEditor when enabling 2017 wikitext editor under beta features.
So it seems to me this is editor independent.

I also could only replicate this with wine/wine - bin/bin, test/test or /bin/bin/test/test is shown as wanted in the preview.

Cannot reproduce on mediawiki.org or on test2.wikipedia.org, using WikiEditor:

Can you please provide a clear list of steps to reproduce, step by step?

For example on test2.wikipedia.org i go to my userpage and click on create page and then enter wine/wine

Now if i click on show preview it will show just wine for me

Could this be just a browser related issue? I am using firefox.

Ok now i am really confused i get more or less the same error in the preview here

If you get the same problem here in Phabricator then I am pretty sure that this is an issue with some local software (e.g. browser add-ons) on your machine. :)
