https://stats.wikimedia.org/ is showing unusually high page views in February from several countries, including Russia, India, and Khazakstan. These are countries where there are very few speakers of the languages concerned, and the countries have not been as highly listed in earlier months. It seems likely that bot activity is heavily skewing the data.
eg:
- Scottish Gaelic https://stats.wikimedia.org/#/gd.wikipedia.org/reading/page-views-by-country/normal|table|last-month|(access)~desktop*mobile-app*mobile-web|monthly
- Cornish https://stats.wikimedia.org/#/kw.wikipedia.org/reading/page-views-by-country/normal|table|last-month|(access)~desktop*mobile-app*mobile-web|monthly
- Yoruba https://stats.wikimedia.org/#/yo.wikipedia.org/reading/page-views-by-country/normal|table|last-month|(access)~desktop*mobile-app*mobile-web|monthly
- Swahili https://stats.wikimedia.org/#/sw.wikipedia.org/reading/page-views-by-country/normal|table|last-month|(access)~desktop*mobile-app*mobile-web|monthly
- Probably Simple English https://stats.wikimedia.org/#/simple.wikipedia.org/reading/page-views-by-country/normal|table|2021-01-16~2021-01-17|(access)~desktop*mobile-app*mobile-web|monthly where the number of views from Russia increased from 205,000 in Jan to 2,000,000 in Feb; India from 3,000,000 to 5,000,000; and Uzbekistan from 19,000 to 490,000.
Some wikis are less badly affected. For table|last-month|(access)~desktop*mobile-app*mobile-web|monthly | Hungarian, pageviews from Russia only increased from 279,000 to 1,000,000.
