Color Blind people have a hard time comparing differences between revisions
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Description:
The color scheme in comparing Differences Between Revisions is very difficult
for color blind folks. The red text on top of, what appears to be a peach-like
color on the left is hard, as well as the red on green on the right. I myself
am [[Color Blind]], as well as 10% of males! If we could fix this with colors
that are easier to distinguish, preferably chosen from a web-safe pallet, it
would make this tool available to more people, and be wonderful :) If you need
a test-monkey just hit me up on AIM: BReflection or E-mail: reflection@gmail.com

We shouldn't simply show changes in colour; differences should be marked up using
<ins> and <del> and styled with something as well as colour. Italics? Bold? Not sure.

Once the HTML includes <ins> and <del> like it should:
ins, del {color: maroon; background-color: inherit;}
ins {font-weight: bold;}
del {text-decoration: line-through;}

In the meantime, to achieve the same in graphical browsers:
.diffchange {color: maroon; background-color: inherit;}
.diff-deletedline .diffchange {text-decoration: line-
through;}
.diff-addedline .diffchange {font-weight: bold;}

Hopefully this won't be moaned about too much and can stay :)

Will get around to modifying MediaWiki and fully fixing the accessibility issues one day...

I have made the difference pages on the English Wikipedia show changes in bold as well as being colored red.

That is an *excellent* idea.

Supposedly fixed in HEAD.

Just checked if it's been applied in REL1_4 and HEAD for all skins, it has,
marking it as FIXED.
