Autofill for citations not always working in RefToolbar on English Wikipedia

Description

List of steps to reproduce (step by step, including full links if applicable):

  • Go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page (it shouldn't matter the page used to edit, I tried on multiple) on Edge 94.
  • Find a link for citation, anything will do.
  • Go to the templates at the top corner, and choose any cite. Probably cite web.
  • Fill in the URL with the citation link.
  • Press the magnifying glass icon or Autofill.

What happens?:
When I attempt to do this, it simply does not fill in anything. The title, website name, first and last name, nothing.

What should have happened instead?:
It should have filled out all the relevant information on its own, without me manually having to add it.

Software version (if not a Wikimedia wiki), browser information, screenshots, other information, etc: It appears that this happens no matter the page I do it on Wikipedia.

Hi, how to see "templates at the top corner" somewhere after going to a random page?

Hello, it appears it's worked again but I've had this happen to me multiple times for days on end. Anyways, go to "edit source". At the top, next to special characters and help, there is "cite". Press that. It should open up three things: templates, name references, and error check. Press template from there, and then any of the cites.

  3. Click "Templates"
  4. Click "cite web"
  5. Get a RefToolbar gadget dialog

User scripts, gadgets, templates, custom CSS are local on-wiki content. Local content is managed independently on each wiki, by each wiki community themselves.
Phabricator is mostly used for MediaWiki, MediaWiki extensions, or server configuration, or by developers and teams to organize what they plan to work on.
