[fr.wikiquote] Spotting articles without any quote
Closed, DeclinedPublicFeature

Description

Feature summary (what you would like to be able to do and where):

We would like to be able to spot articles (that is, pages in the main space) without any quotes on fr.wikiquote, in order to either add quotes on them or propose them for deletion.

On fr.wikiquote, all quotes are displayed using the same mandatory template (Modèle:Citation). A simple way to spot articles without any quotes would be to create a bot to count pages in the main space without any Modèle:Citation on them, and add them to a maintenance category (a new subcategory of Catégorie:Maintenance des articles) where we would find them and check them for maintenance.

Use case(s) (list the steps that you performed to discover that problem, and describe the actual underlying problem which you want to solve. Do not describe only a solution):

As an admin on fr.wikiquote, I regularly stumble upon stubs created by beginners who just enter an introductive summary about a personnality, but no quotes yet. Sometimes, these users come back to actually add quotes, or other users do it (or I do it when I can), but other times they don't. Other times, discussions lead to the deletion of all quotes on the article, temporarily emptying the articles - except when we forget to add other quotes instead.

Benefits (why should this be implemented?):

Maintenance would be a lot easier. Also, we currently have 7 450 articles on fr.wikiquote and it would be great to be sure that each and every one of them actually contains quotes.

Hi @Eunostos, thanks for reporting this and welcome to Wikimedia Phabricator! Indeed this sounds like work for a bot. Feel free to follow https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Small_wiki_toolkits if you would like to create one - thanks a lot! We don't track bot creation requests in Phabricator, so I'm closing this ticket.
