Unable to edit and add newly translated language page to the original language page in wikidata Q1702885
Closed, InvalidPublicBUG REPORT

Description

Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

  • The browser I used is Chrome. Today earlier, I tried to connect my newly translated Chinese page

https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%80%8C%E6%A6%AE%E8%80%80%E8%97%9D%E8%A1%93%E3%80%8D%E6%96%87%E5%8C%96%E5%8B%B3%E7%AB%A0%E7%8D%8E%E7%AB%A0

to its original English page

in

What happens?:

I was failed to do so. On Q1702885 I can see no such "edit" options.

What should have happened instead?:

Supposedly, I can be able to see "edit" icons all over the place in Q1702885, including top right where I could add another language link if a foreign-language version of my list was available. I have also asked my wiki mentor to do the same attempt, and despite the fact my mentor can readily edit other standard semi-protected pages, he cannot see the edit options available in Q1702885.

That item was is protected and you are not autoconfirmed at wikidata. I've done that for you.

Thank you so much.

I am also curious about the edit requirement for the page Q1702885.

According to another wiki page, the edit requirement for semi-protected page is { edited by accounts with >10 edits and over 4 days old }
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Protection_policy#Semi-protection
, which I do meet the requirement.

As for my mentor, he has used wiki for 5+ years, over 500 edits and yet he couldn't edit the page Q1702885. {He must be autoconfirmed}

Thanks again for solving the problem unable to edit, yet I suspect there is bug for the editing requirement.

Wikidata has a 50 edits requirement to be autoconfirmed, not 10. Each site calculate edit counts and account age separately, not added. You can check your account age and edit count on each site at here.
