We currently use Rancid to fetch, diff and archive network devices configuration.
It's working well but Rancid is not maintained anymore.

We need to add support for SONiC based devices. Looking at the current landscape https://github.com/ytti/oxidized seems to be the natural replacement for Rancid.

As oxidized supports reading the Rancid config file, and can output changes in a git repo (like rancid), it *should* be an easy drop-in replacement.

The first step however and maybe the most difficult is to package it for Debian.
