Improve display of differences between article versions
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Author: bugzilla.wikimedia

Description:
The way that MediaWiki currently displays differences between different versions
of an article often makes it unnecessarily hard to see exactly what has changed
with a certain edit. (This may only be a problem using the Classic Mediawiki skin).

For an example, see the URL linked above, and quickly tell me what was changed.
:) It's easy to spot once you know what it is, but it took me more than a minute
until I actually noticed the difference (admittedly, I'm somewhat colourblind
when it comes to the red/yellow/green part of the spectrum).

The problem here is that displaying changed text in red and bold does not make
it visibly stand out from the rest of the text at all. It would probably be a
better idea to give the changed text a different background colour in addition
to bolding it.

Thanks. :)

I'm not color blind and I immediately saw that the string " test" at the end of
the paragraph had been removed, I'm marking this as a duplicate of bug 777,
please reopen it if you feel that bolding the text is not enough, which seemed
to be an appropriate resolution for other people with color blindness (although
that might have been a different, more common type of color blindness).
