Example of the problem: the [[Muhammad drawings]] page on en: Wikipedia has been
protected and unprotected a couple of times in the past day due to edit wars.
Of course that can be discovered from the protection log, but protecting or
unprotecting a page affects the page itself, and therefore should be visible by
viewing the page history.

Suggestion: changing a page's protection should make an entry in the page's
history log.
