Use File: instead of Media: in syntax
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Author: david_q_zhang

Description:
"Media:" for all non image files are a bit strange to many users. For example, a user
could upload a powerpoint file. I feel "File:" is an easier-to-understand word.

Mediawiki is very popular and thus needs to be easy to use and understand.

You are able to rename the Image namespace to File, and to rename Media to File
if desired. This doesn't need to be done for all wikis, and would break a lot of
existing content.

Thanks for the reply. Would you please let me know where to find how-to
