Description:
i thought it would be handy to get a basic understanding of an article which you
come across a link for by holding your mouse over the link and having the
tooltip display some of the first part of the article as a tooltip, rather than
just displaying the name of the link as it does now.
that way, because most articles' opening paragraphs sum up the topic very
quickly and generally, when you need to understand the term/concept of the
linked article in order to understand the article you are currently reading, you
could do so very quickly, and you wouldn't have to navigate away, or open a
half-dozen tabs.
i've seen this done on links on certain websites before, from memory it
displayed little ads with links, as the tooltip.
so if i were reading the Rare Earth Hypothesis, i could hold my mouse over the
link to the Fermi Paradox and it would display:
The Fermi paradox is the apparent contradiction between high estimates of the
probability of the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations and the lack of
evidence for or contact with such civilizations...
as a tooltip. how handy would that be? with all the various linked articles in
scientific articles of that kind it would be a much easier and informative
experiance to get a quick understanding of the terms used. i find myself very
oftern opening up a half-dozen tabs stemming from one topic, when i just wanted
to know their basic meaning and then keep reading.
anyway, just a suggestion. happy coding to ye :)
