Handling a large number of message key renames when importing from source repositories is difficult and tedious. While we are working on improving the system (T196601) that is used to identify and merge renamed keys, we would like to standardize the process by which project maintainers can inform translation admins regarding these big renames. Having prior information of renames also allows translation admins to give the maintainers advice and clarify doubts with respect to how Translatewiki.net will handle the renames.
