https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/core/+/550708 uses the bitnami mysql image because it allows you to use environment variables in the docker-compose file to easily setup database replication. It might be nice to have our own version of this in dev-images, if we don't want to rely on the bitnami images. This is of course assuming that the proposal in T238224 goes anywhere. If it doesn't gain any traction then this task could be declined.
