* Matching images to Wikidata
* Adding images to Wikidata items
* Matching Wikidata items to images on species, which articles don't have an image, or don't exist etc, making redlists
I've filtered NHM's database to purely images and there are 2,615,958 results with images!!! My guess is the number will be larger because I've some files where the images are tiffs which may not show in the viewer. This is kind of unsurprising since they have one of the largest collections in the world and they may be collating things from other museums also (natural history museums have a very strong network). I searched for lepidoptera (butterflies and moths) and got over 600,000 image results.
I've looked through a couple of dozen image descriptions and the majority or type specimens so would be basically guaranteed to be used on Wikipedia articles.

This doesn't exclude NC or license not known filters, or filter out pictures of labels and log book pages etc but its absolutely giant, here are a couple of nice ones I've seen so far in the first 10 pages or so, there's xrays, microscope images, macro images etc. I can't find any yet but I know they have either a CT or MRI scanner also.
