More than 2% of MediaWiki API wall-clock time is spent in [[ https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki/blob/a9ffa5a68703fd47839083e4d892311a27623503/includes/api/ApiMain.php#L1647 | the call to `UIDGenerator::newUUIDv1()` in ApiMain.php ]], added in a2b85209e2 ("Emit new style API action logs into Monolog"): May 8th: [[ https://performance.wikimedia.org/arclamp/svgs/daily/2019-05-08.api.reversed.svgz | 2.40% ]], May 7th: [[ https://performance.wikimedia.org/arclamp/svgs/daily/2019-05-07.api.reversed.svgz | 2.76% ]]. This can probably be ameliorated once PHP 7.3's [[ https://www.php.net/manual/en/function.hrtime.php | `hrtime()` ]] becomes available. In the mean time, it would be good to avoid having `UIDGenerator::newUUIDv1()` in the path of every API request.
