== Preamble ==
The "Thank you" feature is a very cool feature allowing to maintain a more cordial atmosphere.

It's provided by this extension:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Thanks
It works only if you are logged-in and, especially on desktop, it is only shown if you are logged-in.
== Description of the issue ==
Visitors who want to use the "Thank" feature are a good target for Wikipedia but, at the moment, there is a missed opportunity for the #growth-team to bring these users to Wikipedia because these visitors cannot see this button (at least on desktop). These visitors may want to thank the work of others and, therefore, they may be interested in joining Wikipedia to thank someone, and there are lot of chances that they are interested in contributing constructively, if they already value the work of others. Also, the "Thank" button is shown only in certain pages a little "niche", so if users reach these sections, they are also most likely curious and active and therefore even more potentially interesting future contributors.
Look on desktop this page as anonymous user:
* https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Free_software&action=history
→ You don't see any Thank button
Moreover, look the `Special:Thanks` page as anonymous user:
{F34479213}
→ You see an unfriendly red message.
== Proposed solution ==
1. the Thank button should be shown for everybody (at least true for desktop)
2. if you are not logged-in, it should send you on the login/register page or invite you to do so
