Some of our maps have a control called “Layers.” Clicking it brings up the menu shown below, which lets you load map data from an external source into your map on Wikipedia. As you can see, there is an icon indicating “External link,” but”—the same icon we use for external links in text. But, just to be clear, you don’t actually go to another site. You bring the external data right into the map you’re viewing now (e.g., see the map with all the red and blue cycling routes below).
Right now, the user gets a warning the first time she clicks one of these that this is external data and could compromise privacy. Once dismissed, the warning never comes back. So, a couple of questions:{F17151468}

===Warnings
Currently, the user gets a warning the first time she clicks one of these external data layers saying that clicking it could compromise privacy. Once dismissed, the warning never comes back. So, a couple of questions:
# The user is informed about externalthat the data sources are external, but there no prior warning about what precisely the external source is. Once you the map is loaded, the source appears at bottom in the credits. So, do we need prior warning to the user identifying each source—e.g., that bike map comes from "Waymarked Trails".? (I know it looks in the screenshot like there would be plenty of room, but these maps are frequently shown at a much smaller size, do we need prior warning tso the user that bike map comesfrom "Waymarked Trails," etc.?
at's not an option.)
# As a corollary of the above, I suppose: right nowcurrently, you get an explicit but general warning, one time, in a dialog box.. After you dismiss it, the warning doesn't appear again. So, is that enough? It would be cumbersome to warn users individually every time, or even to warn them once for every source.
Finally # Finally, the wording of the warning is accurate but may be a little overly dramatic. See below. Yes, the wording of the warning seems both confusing and perhaps overly alarming.you share your data, Also,but it's not like the cycling map service is going to get your address book. it's not clearCan you suggest something that once dismissed it won't come back.t is still accurate but perhaps a little more circumscribed?
