In categories, redirects are indicated by italics.
This blocks formatting of pages listed in categories. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T31975
Rather than indicating a redirect, italics should indicate titles of artistic works (etc) as detailed in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Titles_of_works
Instead of italics, redirects should be indicated by a suffix. If it's a word, it needs to be a system message so it can be translated. It doesn't matter hugely what this is; (R) would work, as would (redirect) or even ↪. The target page could also be specified here as a bonus feature, if possible.
So for example, "President Obama" is a redirect to "Barack Obama" The page "President Obama" should be listed in categories as:
* [[President Obama]] (redirect)
Or maybe
* [[President Obama]] (redirect to [[Barack Obama]])
I'm not so bothered with how things are done in [[Special:AllPages]] as that's not really public-facing, but the same change might be made there, too.
