Within the last 24 hours, there are ~450 errors matching the phrase "Lock wait timeout exceeded" in logstash. Basically all of them seem to be related to MessageUpdateJob or MessageGroupStats::clear. It is possible that these cause 503 spikes for unrelated requests, so it's worth investigating the source of this lock timeout.
