Old templates can lead to sup elements inside summary

Description

In some places references are marked up with the class .reference rather than .mw-ref when the Ref label template is used.

Given the deprecation warning there "Notice This is no longer the recommended method of citing sources. If a note list separate from the list of references is desired" this is probably intended.

However, it does lead to some weird summaries:
e.g.

In 1971 he was found guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the deaths of seven people – most notably of the actress Sharon Tate – all of which were carried out by members of the group at his instruction. Manson also received first-degree murder convictions for two other deaths. I suggest we strip these since it is cheap.
