Chipmunkdavis added a comment to T332756: Disambig icon as default thumbnail for disambig pages.

Displaying images if there is one in the disambiguation page takes away significant utility from presenting a standard default way to indicate disambiguation pages. It would lead to readers clicking expecting an article and then not receiving one.

This is a very good idea, one of the use cases where the picture search preview provides information rather than just a nice image.

Checking a bit more thoroughly, like you mine works when signed in and I have the "Tools" menu. While logged out, the issue exists with the "More" menu.

It's the same link, the one in Steps to replicate the issue at the start of this thread, which is already in safe mode.

I am still seeing a very narrow menu that compresses the various buttons together vertically.

Chipmunkdavis added a comment to T289212: Feature request: Make login button appear besides the create account text outside new compact user menu.

It is quite unseemly to admonish a user for at worst not dotting the i's and cross the t's, especially so when the issue is something that definitely looks like a bug. The change in subtype after the issue has been resolved appears quite vindictive. The issue was fully understandable from the beginning, and was eventually actioned as a bug report. It is very positive that Theklan brought this issue up for attention years ago, and it is an improvement to the various Wikimedia projects that it was finally solved.

Chipmunkdavis added a comment to T291011: Order/rearrange user menu items based on usage and hierarchy.

T302641 has been closed, along with its exceedingly pertinent note on the unhelpful hiding of the user talk page in a menu, rather than making it obvious and immediately present to new users (and older ones too!). As the comments there have not been transferred here along with the close, I quote: "I rarely visit my own user page. (and why would you? to update it?) Stuff that in the user menu and give me my talk page! I go to my talk page (when there's no alert) to follow up on questions/requests, new users go (or should go) there to read their welcome message again with all the helpful links." The decision to hide the talk page and show the user page is also a stark contrast to the logic given as an explanation for hiding the log in button and show the create account button. However low the frequency of needing a log-in button is, going to the userpage is tremendously lower. The contributions page is also much more useful than the userpage, but a lower priority than the talkpage, a page that is acutely crucial to being an editor on Wikipedia.

Chipmunkdavis added a comment to T302641: Vector 2022 suggestions for vector-user-links.

I would like to add here that the new skin significantly changes the width of buttons. The word "Watchlist" was quite wide, the new icon is thin. I am finding it much easier to misclick now, so it would be nice if the Watchlist icon was of a more accessible size.
