I mostly edit medical content over on English Wikipedia. Not a programmer myself but have a lot of ideas that can benefit from the skills of programmers :-)

Every article on MDWiki does list the Wikidata ID at the top if that helps https://mdwiki.org/w/index.php?title=Gout&action=edit
So what we are doing meshes closely with VideoWiki but should be standalone. We are looking at creating a number of tools that make short video segments. So lets apply for another project...
Would be wonderful if we could have the system believe that MDWiki is a language like Simple EN...
Basically we want to feed two peices of data to a new tool on the wmcloud that then takes this data and creates a short video which it uploads to commons. The data could be handed to the tool via a url such as like in this template https://mdwiki.org/wiki/Video:Sandbox

I am thinking that these template should be external to VideoWiki
As I think about the best way to implement these additional functions, I am thinking this template should begin as
Wed, May 8
All the languages of Wikipedia are stored here, so basically want the system to pretend MDWiki is a language of Wikipedia, just like Simple Wikipedia is.

Okay we appear to have this solved...

Okay found the answer here https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:DiscussionTools/Magic_words_and_markup
Okay @Bawolff figured out the issue. It is something called DiscussionTools https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:DiscussionTools
Further details
I have made both the EN WP and MDWiki articles exactly the same. And they still return different results via the API.

By the way have long until the default is changed? We have a effort rolling out in Igbo right now. I am doing video conferences to try to teach people how to change the default themselves which is not ideal.
Is there a place were it lists all the languages for which MinT is the default? Someone needs to test them.

Have reached out to @VirginiaPoundstone Virginia Poundstone at the WMF who is listed as managing API. https://wikimediafoundation.org/role/staff-contractors/#product

Have emailed a number of folks at OWID to see if they are still interested in collaborating with us on this. Last reached out to them regarding this in 2022. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-NViGPksV0fDvf0gueXhMTnP7sTAWU7W-BWPvO4zZ0g/edit

After so so many years it is amazing to make progress. We definitely need to figure out translation next. I know it is on OWIDs list of things to do. Ideally we figure it out with them and we both benefit.

We are working on a "Consent pop up" and will hopefully have it ready in a couple of weeks for further discussion.

Perfect thanks for figuring this out.

With the update that Ryan just did this is mostly fixed. Just a few like this that are not formatted properly

The largest image sets will probably be 600 to 800.
Mar 24 2024
Actually with respect to the lua, this is not currently needed as Ibrahem has put all the CT scans into image sets https://nccommons.org/wiki/Category:Image_set
It is interesting. When you first load a CT scan it gives you a count down of how many images are remaining to be downloaded. https://radiopaedia.org/cases/186505/studies/148351?lang=us So Maybe they are downloading them all immediately aswell.
@Bawolff do you know how radiopedia does this? Such as here https://radiopaedia.org/cases/crest-syndrome-1?lang=us

We at Wiki Project Med have created NC Commons for NC and ND licensed material. It currently has about 6.3 million media files. We have consensus from Afrikaans WP to adopt its use. Wondering if there are folks here interested in getting involved? https://nccommons.org/wiki/Main_Page
The Cloud-Services project tag is not intended to have any tasks. Please check the list on https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/profile/832/ and replace it with a more specific project tag to this task. Thanks!

Every page that exists on MDWiki has been tagged to the Wikidata item using the WikiProjectMed ID

This would be the next step on using Wikidata on other mediawikis correct?
Aug 17 2023
We would love to have this for MDWiki.org.
Jul 29 2023
If we set it up such that it shows a still image from Commons initially. And than when clicked to activate they get a notice that says "External data source. This content is hosted externally, so enabling it shares your IP address and other data to the graph provider." With a "Cancel" and "I understand" button. And only once they click "I understand" it shows the functional graphing tool. Would that be sufficient? Basically similar to what we have on WikiVoyage for the external overlays for the maps. See https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Cranbrook as an example.

Yes and we are happy to have this run on WMF production servers by WMF staff if required with support from us if they wish.
Mar 21 2023
What was built was a proof of concept and is in active use by MDWiki. Yes we are learning more about WMF requirements as we go along.
By "experienced developer review our current nodejs service documentation and begin specifying and prototyping a new project" do you mean someone within the WMF technical team? Do volunteers have access to WMF production servers or only staff?
Okay so what would be the steps to "develop a microservice to deliver any relevant OWID content which could live within Wikimedia production"? Best

We currently have a tool that comes along and fixes the Wikidata links on WP. We; however, are unable to delete the WD entry that was created. Would be good to have the tool not create WD entries for user namespace items. Thanks
Jan 11 2023
Yup fixed. Well done.
Jan 8 2023
Yes have had the same error reported recently in Japanese.
Would be good to be able to get these back.Dec 23 2022
Not sure what you mean?
Another ticket is here for this effort https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T324988
Dec 21 2022
Can we make it such that the option for machine translation is a privilege that can be applied for and given to translators into Japanese that produce high quality content? This would be given by admins on JA WP. Might address the concerns by the community.
Dec 19 2022
Looks perfect. Thanks.
Dec 12 2022
Yes and the good news regarding the OWID mirror is that it is already hosted on WMF servers.
If we look at maps used on Wikivoyage, when one clicks on relief maps under map layers one gets "External data source. This content is hosted externally so enabling it shares your IP address and other data to the map provider." and you need to click "I understand" to move forwards. So we are already using content from no production WMF sites. Of course running this on production servers will be required if usage becomes high.

I do not image we will hear anything until Monday at the earliest.
A request has gone out for more...
Sep 22 2022
Will we be able to delete material if needed?
Apr 25 2022
Thanks for this Niklas

Great to hear we received some more credits. Have not heard back from them though.
