Description:
dear wikipedians,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ministers_of_the_environment which was
raised by an advogatian
today just made me shake my head and look for a way to report an idea to you,
which i believe to
be of paramount importance to wikipedia.

the concept of "symbolic links".

it should be possible to mark a subsection of a page - or an entire page - with
a name of
some kind (the idea of WikiName#SubSection springs to mind) such that the entire
section
can be pulled "inline" into another page.

in this way, meta-pages can be created.

example: i write some technical material, as part of some research. it looks better
when that research material is spread out across several wiki pages.

however, when it comes to writing an _article_ - or a book - the organisation of
that information is _much_ better aligned in a single page.

... must i cut/paste that content and maintain it several times?

if i had symbolic linking, the answer would be "no".

l.

"Symbolic link" is very misleading here, since what you're asking for is a way
to be able to label a section of a page, and then transclude that in a larger
page (the converse can already be done).

Changing this to an extension installation request, since this is effectively
what LST does.
