It appears that there are issues with thumbnails / images on beta commons. I'm currently working on wikimaps warper application to improve and test code which works with thumbnails and uploaded images of maps.

http://commons.wikimedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/File:Lantern_Slide_-_Tangyes_Ltd,_Vertical_Treble_Ram_Pump,_circa_1910.jpg for example shows a small thumb, but not the large one, and the full file errors.

http://upload.beta.wmflabs.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3d/Lantern_Slide_-_Tangyes_Ltd%2C_Vertical_Treble_Ram_Pump%2C_circa_1910.jpg and http://commons.wikimedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/File:Tartu_turismiskeem.png shows the large one and not the small one, the full image does not error here though.

Additional calls to make re-sized thumbs for all the images seem to lead to a similar error.

Just before submitting this ticket, http://commons.wikimedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/File:Orchid_test.jpg was uploaded via the wizard but no images are shown.

The error details show in the html response:

I noticed in recent changes that there were a few images uploaded via GWToolset before so perhaps there's a disk space issue that's causing it?
