Hi,
I was introduced to DPL recently and wasuite impressed. I installed it on our corporate MediaWiki server with mixed results since I followed instructions from the DPL site, which may be wrong (http://semeb.com/dpldemo/index.php?title=DPL:Installation). Looking at related sites now, here is what I find:
The DPL2 mediawiki page (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:DynamicPageList2) points to DPL as the latest and greatest.
The DPL page (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:DynamicPageList) then points to the DPL external wiki at (http://semeb.com/dpldemo) for downloads
All documentation and downloads on the DPL site then refer back to DPL2 (see http://semeb.com/dpldemo/index.php?title=Download), giving a circular reference as to which code is recommended.
I found a reference to your subversion repo at http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Wikinews:DynamicPageList, installed it, and created a new hook so old references to DPL would use DynamicPageList, but it didn't work off the bat when formatting with wikitables.
Do you have a pointer to the best code/documentation I should be using? Is DPL truly an extension of DPL2 (which was an extension to DPL)? If this is true, shouldn't it automatically recognize calls to either DPL or DynamicPageList and work the same or better than DPL2? Is there a recommended transition strategy for users to go from DPL2 to DPL? Are there other problems I may expect?
Thanks for your time and help!
Cheers,
Bala
