Demographics: Show attracted vs. retained contributors in Git (not Gerrit) in Kibana
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

http://korma.wmflabs.org/browser/demographics.html offered graphs on retained vs. attracted contributors.
This would be nice to have also in Kibana (but this is not a blocker).

Git-Demographics already offers an "Attracted Developers" widget.

I'm going to close this task as this is basically covered by the Git-Demographics dashboard, after setting the time frame in the upper right corner to 20 years: https://wikimedia.biterg.io:443/goto/241a298bc8ec667ab1208919996979d2

  • "Attracted developers" shows new contributors per month, getting their first patch merged into Git (not: proposed in Gerrit).
  • "Last Commit Developers" shows retained contributors by when they provided their last activity.

I do not fully trust the data though, due to T123643 and T157688.

I am going to close this as per last comment as the panel for Git exists (though it has bugs like T157688).

Having information on attracted developers in Gerrit is tracked in T151161: Have "Last Attracted Developers" information for Gerrit automatically updated / Integrate new demography panels in GrimoireLab product.
