Description

...for profit (keeping engaged in the community) and phun (share your GCI experience in a session), either at Wikimedia Hackathon 2017 (Vienna, Europe; 2017-05-19) or Wikimania 2017 Hackathon (Montréal, North America; 2017-08-11).

  • Potential legal issues: Students might still be minor - travelling with parent (costs) vs. on their own
  • Students' location: Keep on same continent if applicable, to lower flight costs?

https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Hackathon_2017/Register_and_Attend states that "The deadline for applying for a scholarship is February 26, 2017" for Vienna. Note that there is also Montreal.

As far as i'm aware, MtDu is aware and interested in the Hackathon at Wikimania.
I have also sent emails to Filip and Divadsn (based in Europe) about the Vienna Hackathon including a link to scholarship information.

Hey @Aklapper, if they need scholarship support and you are in support of them receiving it please also email the Vienna hackathon mailing list with recommendations from you or their mentors asking that it be passed on to the scholarship committee.

As usual it is likely that there will be more scholarship requests that can be accommodated.
