Merge create account and log in
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

Description:
In r11896 (2 and a half years ago) the login form and account creating form were seperated, withuot a reason. While on one hand this slightly reduces confusion for new users it also makes it very time consuming to create accounts after you realise that you dont' have one, but have already typed in a username and password.

To streamline the creation process I propose these be remerged, this was once one of the features of MediaWiki that made it easier to work with.

This was done with reason -- it makes the forms much less confusing and more usable.

Hmmm... How about a compromise.

How about making the error that tells the user the username does not exist, contain a link to the creation form with a parameter to autofill the Username field.

It'll work good for both views.
The forms will still be separate.

However, if you go to a wiki, and find out you don't have an account, you just click the link in the error message, and give the account a password.

Well, there's already a big ol' link there.
