Clarify the email message for temporary passwords
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Author: mike.lifeguard+bugs

Description:
Users are apparently not understanding what they have to do with the temp password, leading to unnecessary emails clogging OTRS. What the message should say is something like "you have changed your password, now you need to log in with your new password."

The current message is below. Can you please suggest a complete message that has been improved?

Someone (probably you, from IP address $1) requested that we send you a new password for {{SITENAME}} ($4).
The password for user "$2" is now "$3".
You should log in and change your password now.

If someone else made this request or if you have remembered your password and you no longer wish to change it, you may ignore this message and continue using your old password.

Mike, please provide feedback, otherwise we will have to close this issue as WONTFIX/INVALID.

A temporary password for user "$2" has been created and is set to "$3".
If this was your intent, to reset your real password, you will need to log in and choose a new password now.

your old password.

A bit wordy but that conveys the message better, I think... that this is a temp, they need to use it once, and then the system will let them set a real one.
