Request conformation of implicit unwatch action
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I often edit a page and its talk page at the same time. To watch it, I check "Watch this page" and save the page. Then I save the other page without changing the status in the box box (I already told MediaWiki to watch the page with my first edit). Because on the 2nd page "Watch this page" is unchecked by default, the site gets unwatched again.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Edit XY and Talk:XY at the same time
  2. Check "Watch this page" on Talk:XY and save the page
  3. Save XY without checking or unchecking "Watch this page" (preferences are not modified by the user!)
  4. XY and Talk:XY get unwatched even tough you never requested that

There should be at least a warning to remind the user about this implicit unwatch action. Or, it shouldn't get unwatched at all. Or, as a third alternative request conformation ("Do you really want to unwatch this page? [Yes] [No]").
