Mediawiki:Edittools panel disappeared from Telugu Wikipedia Editing session

Description

Edittools panel used to insert special characters, local templates disappeared from Telugu Wikipedia editing screens from around 14 Apr 2018. This was observed on both Firefox (59.0.2) and Chrome (64.0.3282.167 (Official Build) (64-bit)) browsers on Ubuntu 16.04.

Well, https://te.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=మీడియావికీ%3ACommon.js&type=revision&diff=2334376&oldid=2334375 shows that you edited MediaWiki:Common.js on 14 Apr 2018? That would be worth to mention, I think? Did your edit happen before or after the problems started?

Looking at https://te.wikipedia.org/wiki/ప్రత్యేక:Gadgets , that page lists gadget-charinsert but it links to the non-existing page https://te.wikipedia.org/wiki/ప్రత్యేక:Gadget-charinsert.js
The definition comes from https://te.wikipedia.org/wiki/మీడియావికీ:Gadgets-definition where it lists charinsert[ResourceLoader|default|peers=charinsert-styles]|charinsert.js

So I wonder how this could have ever worked at all (assuming it did work at some point).

My edit did not have any effect as no changes were introduced by the import from English WP.

I have been able to get the new wikipedia char insert working again for Telugu wikipedia, by importing relevant files from enwiki and configuring appropriately Mediawiki:Common.js for local contents.
as described in https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:CharInsert#English_Wikipedia_CharInsert_menu and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_talk:Edittools#Customization_instructions
