Discovery of source code for Wikibase tools not facilitated by the Wikidata live implementations
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

As a deployer of a local WikiBase install, I want to find the source code or distribution of tools that exist on the web for the existing wikidata.org, so that I can download and deploy them on local infrastructure.

Googling for a tool regularly finds the tool, not the software repo that creates or operates the tool.

For example google for "wikidata quickstatements" has the first source code match is https://github.com/Daniel-Mietchen/Wikidata/blob/master/quick-statements.md .

A solution would be that the open source tools that interact with the wikidata.org environment include a link to the source code repository that implements that tool.

For example, https://tools.wmflabs.org/wikidata-todo/quick_statements.php doesn't have a path to the source code, from that page. The only source code link is to https://bitbucket.org/magnusmanske/ which has many repositories that are unrelated to quick statements.

Do we have a concrete list of tools that we want to make sure link to the correct source code repos?
