But this raises the issue that "print mode" might also be an alternate view mode. For some reason "print mode" preserves links to other articles, which suggests its usage as a view mode is not far-fetched, even if its for some reason not desirable. A couple of minor improvements/ideas in that direction:

• Print mode links: Links in print mode could also be print-moded, allowing one-click browsing instead of having to select print mode from each next article: [[foo]] would link to http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Foo&printable=yes instead of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foo.

• Maybe a Special:Print:Foo interface would help inasfar as coding print-links go.

• Keyboard shortcut integration: shorcuts like alt+shift+e and alt+shift+d would open up edit mode or the talk page, respectively.

• Branding: Ostensibly an alternate mode of viewing would require us to put a smallish WP/WM logo on it.
