The shinkengen script that sets up tracking for instances is currently hard coded to only query the old 'eqiad' region (rOPUP15814f9728b3: Shinken: hard-code to region 'eqiad'.). It would be nice to update the script to be aware of both eqiad and eqiad1. This might not be too hard if our mwopenstackclients library is used. Alternately we could switch it to only care about eqiad1 since I believe all monitored projects other than Toolforge have been migrated to eqiad1 already.
