I am really pleased to see the tool twitterToCommons. I am using it and must say it is helpful. I would like to ask for a feature that i think will be very helpful. It would be nice to be able to filter the tweets based on date (or other criteria). If that is not possible or easy to do , an ability to paste a direct tweet URL in the tool would be great help.

I am happy that you are using this tool and want to have a new feature.
Filtering is a good idea.
However in my small research I couldn't find any direct method where we can filter tweet with a time bracket. Twitter API doesn't have such feature.
I already have added a feature where you can upload from a single tweet link. Please check T238892
