I traced it down to this site operation on 3 March (https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/operations/mediawiki-config/+/570180/) and only now that I'm aware that T32405 exists.

I hereby request a config rollback for idwiki (it relied on mf- a lot); and in the meantime, I would spend time on fixing our main page layout so it looks nice on mobile view too.

On the other hand, I was disappointed that no one in idwiki community is notified about this change until it was done.

I've fixed the idwiki main page layout. I'm so disappointed with the lack of communication here

Sorry to hear this broke. the change in question was actually https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/575376 (the patch you point to has not been merged but T32405 is indeed the task to subscribe to).

The patch that broke this involved a lot of manual checking so that's likely my fault and I take the responsibility here. I'm not sure if this was a human error or an error in my judgement but it was definitely my mistake.

Communication is frustratingly bad between tech and editors given we have so many projects so I can understand your frustration here.

To help me prevent this happening on future projects, please follow tech news and if you can warn other projects who may not know about this upcoming change as I'd hate to see more breakages like this. It's been very challenging to keep all the wikis informed and push through having been deprecated many years ago.

I understand your disappointment. Feel free to subscribe me to any other issues you see on mobile in future. I sadly didn't see this task on Thursday and if I had I would have been able to roll it back :(. Thank you for taking care of this and I am sorry for the inconvenience. Going forward I'll make sure to be more careful and better at documenting.

Thanks for the response

I do subscribe to the Tech News (and also "wikitech-ambassadors" mailing list) but missed this topic. This is my bad too 😅
