VE: Using mouse click to place cursor at beginning of an item in a bullet list is awkward
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

Edit the page https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Project:VisualEditor_testing/TestAxelBoldt in the Visual Editor, go to the section "Regression 1", and try to use a mouse click to place the cursor before the 'f' of the first bullet list item. You will not succeed, unless you click on or before the actual bullet point. The user however expects to be able to click anywhere between the bullet point and the 'f'.

I'm using Firefox 76.0 on Windows 7.

I can reproduce it in Firefox only. It seems like the area of the marker itself is not clickable, but you can click to the left or right of it (and even a little bit of space underneath it) to place the cursor.

I couldn't reproduce the problem in Chrome, where the marker and the entire "margin" is clickable. I think this is a browser bug.
