Provide a standard template for slides in itWikiCon 2020
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Sometime, some speakers ask for a template for LibreOffice or something like that, trying to standardize themselves to the event. I don't like to see copy-pasta slides but this is a frequent request and... well at the end it's somehow cool.

In short, we can create some slides with the itWikiCon-2020 logo or something like that. Some examples of frequently requested elements to be designed:

  • initial splash screen (the big one with big logo, big talk name, big author, ..)
  • generic slide (much free space for custom title and custom text)
  • conclusive splash screen (big hello, license, name of next talks, ..)

Event Timeline

I would volunteer to prepare it.
Is there a Visual Identity guide I can read? I know the logo is there, but what about the fonts, the color combinations, the general look and feel?

Also, I think we should clarify to the presenters – if this is not already clear and I am the one missing it – if it is compulsory to use this template, or just suggested.

My two cents:

  • suggested/compulsory: suggested
  • font: I know that the logo font family is Montserrat
  • color combination: WMF palette (itWikiCon's logo palette)
  • general look and feel: MAKE IT AWESOME

Understood, thanks

Don't count on it 😁

Final question: when should we set the deadline?

Final question: when should we set the deadline?

Having said we know who start working on his slides 4 hours before the presentation, someone actually works during holidays. What about working on this before August 22 (a couple of weeks since now)?

Attached please find the first draft for comments.

We discussed this in private, but it is appropriate we also update the task here.
So the file for LibreOffice Impress is ready to be used: it will be published on the website and you can find it here.

The file contains a set of predefined slides for general purpose use. You can simply fill the real presentation data in the existing slides, duplicate the layouts you need more and delete the others.
For more advanced users and for fine tuning the presentation, the file contains the needed master pages.

A side effect of this task was the creation of a very short document outlining the itWikiCon visual identity: the resulting PDF file is available here on Commons.

Additionally, here's a bright version, with no blue background
