Prototype for query builder?
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

When building a new software tool it is a good practice (I learned in my study) to first design a prototype and test it on users to see if it works to the satisfaction of users.

Prototypes help iron out what works and what does not at a much lower cost than doing changes later in code.

I can't find any prototype for the new query builder. I have seen no notices either in the project chat nor in the wikidata telegram channel about user testing of a prototype query builder. Have I missed it?

If a prototype has not been made could someone from the team explain whether it was considered?
If yes what was the motivation to not make a prototype first?

Several prototypes have been made and tested. The tool has been live on a test system for everyone to see at https://query-builder-test.toolforge.org/ since the start of coding. It has been mentioned several times in the weekly summary.
