collection contents lost when only loading js via https
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

I've tried to make a collection in the Wikipedia in German language,
which does not work.

I constantly loose its contents.

The problems seem to be:

  • time - after a while, a ~10 minutes magnitude, the collection is emptied.
  • method - whenever you switch to another method of adding, the collection is emptied. I tried the top block in a page, the mouse hover method, an the "extend collection" link.
  • browser tab or browser window switching. Could be, each tab or window has its own collection contents which is not communicated elsewhere, or not merged with other tab or windows lists.

Severity: enhancement

The behaviour you describe is very odd.

Which browser are you using?

Do you have javascript enabled?

Closing since it doesn't look like it is reproducible.

I am using Iceweasel ( a Firefox / Mozilla clone ) on Debian Linux updated weekly or biweekly to the newest bug and security fixes.
I have Javascript enabled from trusted sites with safe transports but not otherwise. That means, whatever scripts secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia sends
encrypted is used, any others not.

The javascript issue will be interesting with the new ResourceLoader. I assume you're using secure.wikimedia.org?

I checked all three methods described above (timed, add-method, tab-switch) in Safari and was not able to reproduce the bug.

All js-files are loaded (correctly, i presume) via Resource-Loader from secure.wikimedia.org.

A very brief check seem to suggest that it is working now as expected.
So it may have been a temporary problem or one that went away with
the ressource loader.
