Link colors are an essential element of MediaWiki skin custom rule and are also often changed by skins.
These customizations have historically been done in non-obvious ways, via style ordering or overly specific CSS rules.

To make it more obvious where skins deviate from the defaults, we want to capture these in skin variables.
