Wikitable padding issue (English Wikipedia)
Closed, InvalidPublicBUG REPORT

Description

List of steps to reproduce (step by step, including full links if applicable):

  1. I posted most of this bug report on the template talk page;
  2. Can be seen in a screenshot of the article;
  3. Sample article is List of English Monarchs.

What happens?:
Table display is wonky (see image and article #2 & #3 above). There's too much padding. The left/bottom borders and table data are separated from top/right borders. (see my specs listed on Template talk page #1 above) This may be isolated to Timeless.css with HotCat work-around in Chrome on Windows 10, all of which I am using.

What should have happened instead?:
Tables should display as expected without additional padding. (see the Template talk page for solution I used on another article yesterday -- set padding:0; in style to resolve issue -- refer to #1 above).

Software version (if not a Wikimedia wiki), browser information, screenshots, other information, etc:
See all three links above for additional info like screenshot, sample article with a wikitable, plain English explanation, my specs, and recommended solution, etc.

Event Timeline

I'm going to close this invalid as I am fairly certain about the reason why. I'll leave a note onwiki.

Thank you, Inzo, for looking at this. Glad to know it was a compatibility issue and not a site/Wiki -wide issue. I'd recommend adding a warning/disclaimer to the preferences page (if you haven't already) stating the sticky header option breaks tables if Timeless.css is used Also, I really love the sticky column headers. I'll ignore the wonky table display. Thank you, again. - K
